Bobcats face WAC entry Grand Canyon
If there's one thing Brian Fish can take away from the first five games of his Bobcat coaching career, it's that it almost certainly can't get any more difficult.
But the road remains rugged on Monday, when the Bobcats face a Grand Canyon squad that finished third in the WAC last year and is projected to place second in 2014-15. The Antelopes are led by head coach Dan Majerle, a former NBA All-Star who cut his coaching teeth with the Phoenix Suns before taking over at GCU.
Grand Canyon befell a fate similar to the Cats in the season opener, enduring an 85-45 loss at Kentucky almost simultaneous to MSU's 113-78 defeat at UCLA. Senior guard Royce Woolridge, the son of late Notre Dame and NBA star Orlando Woolridge, scored 15 for the Lopes against top-ranked Kentucky, while guard Daniel Alexander, also a senior, added 10.
Montana State's big men showed well in Pauley Pavilion. Forward Danny Robison scored 14, while Blake Brumwell added 10. Guard Michael Dison also scored 14, while his backcourt mate Marcus Colbert added 12 points and seven assists.
After Monday's contest at Grand Canyon the Bobcats return to the West Coast, battling Cal State Northridge on Wednesday.
