MSU battles nation's top ground game
Montana State (4-0 Big Sky, 6-2 overall) faces its most important showdown to date, travelling to California for a showdown with Cal Poly in a game pitting two of the top three teams in the Big Sky standings. Cal Poly (4-0, 5-3 overall), inexplicably unranked after drilling then-No. 7 Montana 41-21, rushed for 421 yards against the Grizzlies. The Mustangs' top-ranked ground game rolls up 347.6 yards a game, with quarterback and reigning FCS player of the week Chris Brown (107.0 per game) engineering the attack. Kori Garcia (77.8) and bruising fullback Brandon Howe (70.8) form a dynamic tandem, while Buck Buchanan candidate Nick Dzubnar anchors a stingy defense. Sophomore QB Dakota Prukop leads MSU with 252.4 yards passing and 83.5 yards rushing per game.
