Tough weather conditions mark slow start for Bobcats
Montana State Women's Golf got off to a rough start at the Cougar Cup, hosted by Washington State at Palouse Ridge. The opening rounds of the first day of competition put MSU in 11th place out of 12 teams with a score of 649 (320-329). The Cougars finished up the first two rounds in first place with 588. Montana State's highest finisher was once again Paige Crawford, who tied for 23rd with 155 (76-79) on the par-72, 6,200 yard course. Freshman Janelle Reali, who has been keeping up with the upper echelon of competition was tied for 32nd after 26 holes with 157 (76-81). Senior Pamela Calderon Rojas sits in 67th with 168 (86-82) while Lauren Hausauer rounded out the scoring Bobcts in 74th (181/94-87). Kati Greear was disqualified from play in the second round and shot an 82 in the first.
Playing as individuals were Bergen Buck and Haylee Folkvord who were in 76th and 73rd, respectively, headed into the final round.
"Hopefully we'll take yesterday's rounds and learn from them," said head coach Brittany Basye. "The weather will most likely not be on our side for the final 18, so we'll need to work a little harder and focus and control our play to lower our numbers out on the course."
