Calderon Rojas's hole-in-one highlights opening day
Despite a four-stroke improvement in the second round, the Montana State Women's Golf teams finished eighth in the field of ten teams in the opening rounds of the Bronco Fall Invitational on Monday. Hosted by Boise State at Falcon Crest Golf Course, the final round of 18 holes begins today, Tuesday. (Results)
MSU carded 626 (315-311) on the par-72, 6,158 yard course. Santa Clara led all teams with 578 (291-287), just two strokes over.
Paige Crawford was the team's highest finished after 36 holes, tying for 18th place with 152 (76-76). Also of note, Pamela Calderon Rojas managed a hole-in-one on the 147-yard hole, using her six iron. It was Rojas's third hole-in-one in her lifetime but the first in a collegiate tournament.
"We need to be stronger around the greens today and stick to a strict game plan," head coach Brittany Basye said. "We should be finishing higher than we are and I know we're capable of performing better. We are still seeing good things and we'll go out on Tuesday and really try our best."
