Bobcats remain tied eighth
Paige Crawford shot a four-under-par 68 to move up to first place at the Big Sky women's golf championship in Chandler, Ariz., on Monday. (Day Two Results)
“Paige played awesome. She was able to hit 17 greens today which is outstanding golf,” said head coach Brittany Basye.
After carding a first round 73, Crawford's score of 141 through 36 holes gives her a one stroke lead with 18 holes left to play. Not only was Crawford's 68 a career low but it is also one shot shy of the conference record.
"I have the best teammates. It was a fun day having my parents there and everyone who supports me. I was very relaxed coming into the second round. I felt like my score from the first day didn't reflect on how well I played. I hit the ball very solid and putted really well," said Crawford.
Montana State's Molly Dorans was able to move up from 34th to sit in a tie for 29th after carding a second round score 77. Kati Greear is 42nd after shooting an 82 on the day. Kelly O'Brien's day two score of 80 places her in a tie for 44th as Pamela Calderon Rojas shot an 84 on Monday and is in a tie for 49th.
The Bobcats remained in a tie for eighth place overall with a team score of 629 after posting a second round score of 307. Portland State and Northern Arizona are tied for the team lead with 592 through the first two rounds.
Carleigh Silvers of Northern Colorado is one shot off Crawford to sit in second place, as yesterday's leader Britney Yada of Portland State is now in third.
“As a team we did a little better overall,” mentioned Basye. “Tomorrow we all just need to dig deep and play our best.”
