Grosvenor Named Big Sky Athlete of the Week

New school record reaps conference recognition
The Big Sky Conference announced the weekly awards on Tuesday and Grant Grosvenor was named the men's Track Athlete of the Week following a great weekend in the Golden State. The Mill Creek, Wash. native set a new program record with his first unadjusted sub-1:50 800 meter run at the Mondo Mid-Major Challenge.
The two-time Big Sky Champion in the 800 clocked in with a lifetime best time of 1:49.28, beat out the previous record of 1:49.61 set by Pat Casey back in 2011. Also of note, in Grosvenor's race, he was joined by Matt Tex who also clocked in with a record breaking time of 1:49.44.
Grosvenor now leads the Big Sky Conference in the event and sits in seventh in the 1,500 in the latest descending order list. The sophomore won both the indoor and outdoor 800 in 2011 as a freshman.
The Montana State men placed third at the meet behind meet host Sacramento State and Utah State. Most recently, MSU earned a sixth place ranking in the latest USTFCCCA Mountain Region poll.
