Crawford Tied For Second at Red Rocks

MSU 14th after Day One
Paige Crawford shot a 72 on the first day of the Red Rocks Invitational on Saturday. Crawford is tied for second with three others players, while the Bobcat team is in 14th at the Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona, Ariz.. (Day One Results)
Kelsey Chugg of Weber State opened with a one-under par 71 after the first round. Crawford, Clariss Guce of CSU Northridge, Kate Hoops of Toledo and Kelcey Tate of Grand Canyon are each one shot back.
“Paige played very well today and had some good birdies. She had it going all day,” said head coach Brittany Basye.
CSU Northridge has a one-shot lead over Toledo and Southern Utah on the team leaderboard. CSU Northridge posted 303 for the day with 304 for Toledo and Southern Utah.
The Bobcats posted a 322 team score with UC Riverside in one spot ahead of MSU after carding a 319 team score for the first round.
Molly Dorans shot an 80 for the first round to put her in a tie for 50th. After a day one score of 82 for Kelly O'Brien, she sits tied for 58th As Pamela Calderon Rojas is in 99th after carding a round one score of 87. Freshman Kati Greear withdrew from the tournament due to back problems.
“We are seeing bits and pieces of it but we just need to keep our heads up and know we are capable of putting a solid round together,” added Basye.
The second and final round of the Red Rocks Invitational will begin tomorrow at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
