With the weather a little chillier than expected, the Montana State women's golf team is in 8th place after the opening round of competition at The Lumberjack at Ocotillo in Chandler, Ariz. (Day One Results)
Freshman Kati Greear shot a ten-over par 82 to lead MSU as McNeese State's Lina Lagergren and Kelsey Haynie shot a 73 to tie for the lead in the individual competition.
Greear's score of 82 places her in a tie for 18th, Molly Dorans and Kelly O'Brien are in a tie for 31st with two others after shooting an 85. Paige Crawford is in a tie for 35th after a first round score of 86 and in 43rd is Pamela Calderon Rojas with a score of 87.
McNeese State has the overall team lead with a score of 300 as Northern Arizona and Weber State round out the top three with scores of 316 and 327, respectively. The Bobcats have a team score of 338 after round one.
“I saw some positive things, we need to keep working towards taking one shot at a time and take advantage of these next two days we will be able to stay outside by not only competing but practicing as well,” said head coach Brittany Basye.
The second round will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday
