Bobcats Use Best Offensive Game of Season to Top Walla Walla

MSU shoots 63%, hits 10 three-pointers
Freshman guard Stephan Holm scored a game-high 21 points and Montana State shot 63% from the floor on its way to a 109-54 win over Walla Walla in Bozeman on Saturday.
Holm was one of seven Bobcats to post or match season scoring highs Saturday, as the Bobcats scored their most points of the season and logged the largest margin of victory since a 59-point win over Chadron State on January 4, 1995. Montana State shot 55.6% from three-point range, as well, and turned the ball over only three times.
"We got contributions across the board," said MSU coach Brad Huse. "The guys took shots they could make and shared the ball. That was the most assists we've had this year. I was really happy with how they maintained their focus."
The game looked like anything but a blowout early. After a Marcus Colbert three-pointer to open the scoring Walla Walla went on a 10-2 run. The NAIA Wolves led by as many as eight, 15-7 at the 14:46 mark, and held the advantage until a Holm layup at the 9:57 mark. But that came in the midst of a game-changing 28-4 spurt by MSU.
"Walla Walla came out and took it to us early," Huse said. "I wouldn't say we weren't focused, they just did a good job of executing and hitting shots. Once we were able to compile our depth we wore them down and we took charge of the game."
The Bobcats rolled through the rest of the evening without looking back. MSU led 54-23 at halftime and led by at least 50 points for the game's final seven minutes.
Senior center Paul Egwuonwu registered his third double-double of the season, while Colbert and Terrell Brown each had four steals. Antonio Biglow dished out seven assists, while Colbert chipped in with six.
Montana State next plays on Sunday, December 15, at the University of Portland. The Cats are 3-5 on the season.
