Despite a match-high 27 kills by freshman Kennadie Clute, the Montana State volleyball team couldn’t match Eastern Washington’s balanced attack as the Eagles posted a 25-16, 21-25, 25-19, 25-20 win over the Bobcats, Saturday night in Worthington Arena.
Despite a match-high 27 kills by freshman Kennadie Clute, the Montana State volleyball team couldn't match Eastern Washington's balanced attack as the Eagles posted a 25-16, 21-25, 25-19, 25-20 win over the Bobcats, Saturday night in Shroyer Gym.
Clute, a 6-1 outside hitter from Spokane, Wash., had 18 kills after the first two sets. She went on to record her 25th straight double-digit kill match and strengthened her hold as the top rookie kill producer in the nation.
Also contributing to the Montana State (5-20, 3-11) attack was Natalie Godfrey with seven kills, while Megan Spofford and Eli Svisco each added six. Freshman setter Anna Sykora dished out 44 assists.
Defensively, the Bobcats were led by Nicole Baker with a match-high 12 digs. Svisco led all MSU blockers with three.
For the match, Eastern Washington (8-17, 5-9) out-hit MSU .250 to .145 and also held advantages in kills, assists, aces and blocks.
The Eagles were paced by Kelsey Julian with 12 kills and six digs.
Montana State will host Weber State on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in Shroyer Gym.
