Kalli Durham poured in 14 first-half points to give the Montana State women’s basketball team the edge it needed to enter intermission with a slight advantage, before the Bobcats erupted and outscored Montana Western by 27 in the second stanza, en route to an 81-50 win over the Bulldogs, Saturday afternoon in exhibition action.

Kalli Durham poured in 14 first-half points to give the Montana State women's basketball team the edge it needed to enter intermission with a slight advantage, before the Bobcats erupted and outscored Montana Western by 27 in the second stanza, en route to an 81-50 win over the Bulldogs, Saturday afternoon in exhibition action.

"We weren't being very patient in the first half, but Kalli (Durham) stepped-up and was a consistent performer, which helped get us a lead at halftime," said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. "Once we settled in and started putting together the things we're capable of, we did a very nice job in the second half, which gave us some breathing room."

MSU built an 11-point advantage at the 4:07 mark of the first period following a Kayla DeWit layup. UMW chipped away at the margin out-scoring the Bobcats 11-4 to trail 33-29 at halftime.

The Bobcats opened the second half with 12 unanswered points and never looked back. The run was sparked by eight points via junior Ausha Cole, including two 3-pointers.

"I thought Ausha (Cole) really took over in the opening moments of the second half and that really set the tone for us the rest of the game," Binford said. "I'm really proud of the energy we had in the second half and we did a nice job accomplishing some our goals."

Durham finished with a game-high 21 points, while Cole added 14 and DeWit 12. MSU ended the contest shooting 42 percent from the field, including 47 percent in the second half.

The Bobcats also held a commanding 53-32 advantage under the glass. MSU was paced by DeWit and Durham with eight and seven rebounds, respectively. In addition, Ashley Brumwell dished out five assists, while Durham added a game-high three steals.

McCall Hasquet paced the Bulldogs with a team-high 10 points.

Montana State will open its regular-season when it hosts Cal State Northridge, Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. in Worthington Arena.
