"Road Warriors" Strike Again

Defensive minded Bobcats continue road success
With a lot of basketball left to play the Montana State women's basketball team once again proved they know how to win on the road. The eighth win on an opponent's home court this season was no surprise in Dahlberg Arena on Saturday afternoon, even after shooting only 33% from the field.
The self proclaimed “road warriors” upped their road record to 8-1 behind a strong defensive effort after beating the Lady Griz 58-49. To say the Bobcats stepped up on the defensive end is exactly what happened as the Lady Griz struggled to get open and have uncontested shots. MSU had great ball pressure throughout the entire game and really made the Lady Griz work for every shot.
“We needed to get opportunities for us, that means settling in and stepping up the defense,” said head coach Tricia Binford. You can always expect it to be a defensive battle with the familiarity between these two teams and that it was.
Winning for the third time in Missoula in the last four years shows how much defense means for the Bobcats. “We take a lot of pride in our defense,” added Binford, “That is key for us against Montana.”
“Everyone always says this is just another game, but this rivalry means so much. It can take awhile to settle down, especially in this atmosphere but we worked on getting stops in practice and that really showed today,” said Ashley Brumwell.
Good things come for a defensive minded team and being able to win on the road is definitely a plus. The “road warriors” have won six in a row and look to keep the streak going, on the road, against Weber State on January 24.
