Senior earns award for second consecutive season
Melissa Hultstrand was named an All-American Scholar by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) for her efforts both on and off the golf course. Hultstrand, earning the recognition for the second year in a row, was among 602 student-athletes in all division who were recipients of the award. Recipients, at minimum, must post a cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
The Gilbert, Ariz. native will be a senior this fall and is working on a degree in Business. Her highest finish in the 2011-12 season was placing third, carding a 76, at the Bengal Classic, in Pocatello, Idaho.
“I'm so proud of Melissa,” said head coach Brittany Basye. “For her to earn this award, for the second season in a row, shows her dedication not just to her sport, but to her academic endeavors.”
The National Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. Today, the NGCA represents nearly 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
