Golf Sits in 18th After Opening Round of Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

O'Brien finishes highest for MSU at Ocotillo
After one round of 18, Montana State sits in 18th place with 312 at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. The three day invitational is being held at Ocotillo Golf Resort, a 6,184 yard, par-72 course in Chandler, Ariz. (Day One Individual Results | Day 1 Team Results)
Kelly O'Brien, who was the top finisher for MSU at the Montana State Spring Invite on April 7, is again leading the Bobcats, in a tie for 28th place with a score of 75 (+3).
Kristi Cardwell of Iowa and Brianna Espinoza of Colorado State are the overall leaders at 68 (-4).
Paige Crawford closed out day one in 68th, with 78 (+6) while Katie Michunovich is in 76th with 79 (+9). Molly Dorans (80) and Melissa Hultstrand (86) round out the Blue and Gold golfers in 87th and 119th, respectively.
Leslie McGetrick is playing as an individual and carded a 76 (+4) good enough for 37th place.
Iowa is the current team leader after an impressive combined score of 289.
"Kelly is playing with a lot of confidence right now," said head coach Brittany Basye. "The course is in great shape and I see us continuing to play well and improve over the next two rounds."
The second round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic begins tomorrow, Tuesday, April 10, with the first group teeing off at 6:30 a.m.
