Bobcat Netmen Face Challenging Weekend

MSU hosts league-leading Hornets, Northern Colorado in weekend twin bill
Montana State hits the home stretch of the Big Sky tennis season this weekend, hosting a pair of key conference matches. The Bobcats square off against league-leading Sacramento State on Saturday at 10 am before facing Northern Colorado on Easter Sunday at 12 noon. At 2-2 in league play, MSU is locked in a three-way battle with two other two-loss teams fighting for entry into the league's four-team tournament.

Mike Phillips
Mike Phillips concludes his spectacular 12-year reign as MSU's most successful men's tennis coach ever this spring. The four-time Big Sky Coach of the Year has led the Cats to three Big Sky titles and their first NCAA Championships appearances. Phillips was a two-time team MVP at Mesa State College, earning his bachelor's degree from Colorado in 1999.

It Didn't Take Long...
...for freshman Niklas Brandes to make his presence felt in the Bobcat tennis program. The Nordenham, Germany, product own two Big Sky Men's Player of the Week honors, and his 9-5 mark at no. one singles is second-best in the Big Sky.
Youth Serving
MSU's success has been spurred by several talented young players. In addition to Brandes, so. Diego Campos is 6-5 and fr. Javier Martin-Morillas is 4-3.
Native Son
Helena's Lander Jewett has posted a terrific senior season, rolling up a 7-6 record to this point.
