Crawford leads Bobcats for second day in a row
Montana State Women's Golf closed out the 2011-12 season with a seventh place finish at the Big Sky Conference Tournament on Tuesday. The Bobcats finished with a three-day total of 926 (311-313-302), including an impressive 11-stroke drop on the final day of play. Their score of 302 marks a 18-hole team best in the last two seasons. (Final Results)
The 2012 team champion was Northern Colorado who rallied for the championship with a score of 880 (290-299-291). Sacramento State was in the headed into the final day at Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz.
Carleigh Silvers of UNC was the overall medalist with 213 (71-73-69).
Paige Crawford closed out her sophomore season in 15th place, the highest of all the Bobcats. She carded a 227 (78-74-75) for 11-over-par. Molly Dorans placed 18th with 229 (75-78-76).
Leslie McGetrick ended her collegiate playing career in 30th place at 235 (80-79-76), including a much improved final round.
Classmate Katie Michunovich also book-ended her time as a Bobcat, placing 31st with 236 (79-82-75), also seeing significant drops on Tuesday. Rounding out the Blue & Gold golfers was Kelly O'Brien, in 32nd with 238 (79-82-77).
Last year, Montana State came in sixth place with 934 (319-304-311). McGetrick was the highest finisher in 12th (227).
“Our goal today was 300, and we shot 302,” said head coach Brittany Basye. “I'm very proud of these ladies, not just today but this entire season. They've improved tremendously since the fall and everyone contributed. We've got a lot to hold our heads up high about.”
