Golfers head to Aloha State for Dr. Donnis Thompson Invite
With one tournament under their belt, the Montana State Women's Golf team will hit the links for the second time this spring at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Honolulu, hosted by the University of Hawai'i.
The two-day tournament, beginning March 13, will be held at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course, a 5,907 yard, par 72 course, located on the Kane'ohe Marine Corps Base.
Montana State will compete among 13 other institutions including Coastal Carolina, Gonzaga, Hawai'i, UH-Hilo, Idaho, Iowa, Northern Colorado, North Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State, UC Davis, UTEP and Washington State.
The Bobcats will be represented by Paige Crawford, Molly Dorans, Melissa Hultstrand, Leslie McGetrick and Kelly O'Brien and head coach Brittany Basye has high expectations for all of them.
“Our goal this spring has been to play with more confidence and it is starting to show,” said Basye. “I expect a lot from the girls this week and I see lots of positive things ahead of us as we get on the course again in Hawai'i.”
Golfers will play 36 holes on day one, followed by 18 on the second day. Both days begin at 12 p.m. (MDT) and live results will be available at www.golfstat.com.
