Bobcat Women Picked Fourth in Coaches/Media Polls

The Montana State women’s basketball team was picked to finish fourth in both the Coaches and Media Big Sky Conference Preseason polls.
The Montana State women's basketball team was picked to finish fourth in both the Coaches and Media Big Sky Conference Preseason polls.
Montana State, who finished 19-11 overall and 10-6 in conference action, returns four starters from last year's squad that advanced to the Big Sky Conference semifinals. In all, eight letterwinners and eight newcomers will hit the Worthington Arena hardwood for eighth-year head coach Tricia Binford.
Leading the way for the Bocbats will be Rachel Semansky and Ashley (Albert) Brumwell, who averaged 13.8 and 11.4 points per game, respectively. Semansky, a two-time All-Big Sky Conference performer,has led the league in field-goal percentage the past two seasons. Albert returns as one of MSU's top rebounders and three-point shooters.
“Polls are fun for the fans, but we all know it's where you are in March that counts,” Binford said. “The polls are an indication of where you finished last season and the personnel you have returning.
“The Big Sky has become an extremely competitive league,” Binford said. “And, with the addition of North Dakota and Southern Utah, it becomes that much more difficult.”
Montana State will open its season against Montana Tech in exhibition play on Oct. 29.
