Shooting woes plagued the Bobcats all game long as Eastern Washington posted a 66-52 win over MSU, Saturday afternoon in Worthington Arena.
Shooting woes plagued the Montana State women's basketball team all day as Eastern Washington posted a 66-52 win over the Bobcats to take sole possession of second place in the Big Sky Conference, Saturday afternoon in Worthington Arena.
For the game, Montana State (14-7, 6-3) shot 31 percent from the field, including an icy 25 percent in the second stanza. MSU also converted just one-of-20 from beyond the three-point arc.
“I was okay with our shot selection and we took what Eastern Washington was giving us, but we just didn't knock them down,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We need to do a much better job finishing our shots. By not making them, it really affected our energy.”
Eastern Washington (13-9, 7-2) built a 14-point lead with three-minutes left in the opening period and held a 36-28 advantage at intermission. MSU would get no closer in the second stanza, as the Eagles finished out the game shooting 46 percent from the floor.
MSU was led by Rachel Semansky with 19 points and ten rebounds. It was the sixth double-double of the season for the junior from Highwood.
The Bobcats held a slim 39-37 advantage under the boards. Also getting the job down low for MSU was Ashley Albert with nine rebounds, to go along with a team-high five assists.
Brianne Ryan led the Eagles with 22 points and eight rebounds.
Montana State will play at Idaho State next Thursday.
