Golfers Rally at Second Round of Cougar Cup

MSU will look to capitalize on late momentum in the final day
Montana State improved by 28 strokes in the second round to sit in a tie for 11th place at the Cougar Cup, hosted by Washington State at Palouse Ridge Golf Club on Monday. The Bobcats shot a cumulative 338 in the opening 18, one stroke ahead of Big Sky Conference member, Eastern Washington. Significant improvement in play prevailed in round two, with four out of five Bobcats carding lower than the previous round. (Day One Results)
Washington leads all teams with 594 (309-285). Montana State carded a 338 and 310 for an overall score of 648. The current leader is Cyd Okino of Washington with a score of 144 (76-68).
Paige Crawford holds as the top competitor for MSU. Her two-round combined score of 159 (79-8) puts her in 37th place.
“We had a strong comeback yesterday,” said head coach Brittany Basye. “Everyone contributed and their confidence is really starting to show. Their determination in the second round, especially in tough conditions, really made me proud.”
The Bobcats will play the final round of the Cougar Cup on Tuesday, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
