
MSU Drops to Sixth on Final Day of Big Sky

The Montana State Women's Golf team closed out the 2010-11 campaign on Wednesday, at the Big Sky Golf Championship. The three-day tournament was hosted by Northern Arizona at Ocotillo Golf Club, a 6,162 yard, par 72 course, in Chandler, Ariz. (Results)
The Bobcats concluded the tournament in sixth place, after falling one spot from day two, carding a three day total of 934 (319-304-311) and 70 over.
Portland State earned the Big Sky title with a combined score of 880 (303-287-290), just 16 over par. This was the Vikings' second consecutive Big Sky title and their third in four years.
Portland State's Britney Yada was the overall medalist after carding a 210 (72-68-70) over the course of the championship. She led the field the entire tournament.
Montana State's highest finisher was Leslie McGetrick who carded a 227, including a birdie on the last day (77-79-71). Freshman Paige Crawford placed 14th with 228 (76-75-77). Crawford was MSU's highest finisher the first two days of competition, placing ninth both days.
Kelly O'Brien carded a 240 (82-76-82) for 30th place, while Katie Michunovich placed one behind O'Brien, at 31st with 241 (84-74-83). Molly Dorans finished 40th after carding a 251 (89-81-81).
MSU's sixth place finish was a repeat performance of the 2009-10 season, which also took place at Ocotillo.
