Bussey Leads Bobcat Women Past Carroll

Montana State senior Katie Bussey poured in a game-high 27 points to guide the Bobcats to a 78-48 exhibition win over Carroll College, Friday night in Worthington Arena.

Montana State senior Katie Bussey poured in a game-high 27 points to guide the Bobcats to a 78-48 exhibition win over Carroll College, Friday night in Worthington Arena.
Bussey, a 5-9 guard from Alamosa, Colo., connected on 12-of-25 from the field, including three 3-pointers. In addition, she added four rebounds, four assists and a steal.
“We had great contribution across the board,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “When Katie is on, things get easier.”
Bussey recorded 14 points in the first half to give the Bobcats a 36-24 advantage at intermission. The Saints closed the margin to 43-33 at the 16:10 mark of the second stanza, before MSU went on a 7-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Also in double-figures for Montana State were Latisha Adams 13 and Chelsea Banis 10.
Rachel Semansky and Adams paced the Bobcats under the boards as MSU enjoyed a 55-33 rebounding edge. Semansky ended with a game-high 11 rebounds, while Adams notched a double-double with ten boards.
“We definitely had a more solid game then what we showed a week ago,” Binford said, referring to MSU's 66-54 win over the University of Mary last weekend. “We were a lot more focused and I thought it was a significant improvement.”
For the game, MSU shot 43 percent from the field and connected on seven-of-22 three-point attempts.
Carroll was led by Torrie Cahill with 11 points.
Montana State will open regular-season play at Portland next Friday night.
