Bussey Leads Bobcats past Bulldogs

The 5-foot-9 guard from Alamosa, Colo., poured in a game-high 25 points to lead the Bobcats to an 83-50 win over Montana Western, Thursday night in Shroyer Gym.
Bussey connected on 10-of-20 from the field and dished out four assists to pace MSU.
Due to the Dierks Bentley concert in Worthington Arena, the MSU-UMW game was moved to the smaller Shroyer Gym.
“I like playing in Shroyer,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “The rims are a little tighter and we can use our post play to our advantage.”
Montana State (2-1) post player Rachel Semansky found the rims to her liking notching 20 points, while pulling down eight rebounds.
The Bobcats pulled away from a 14-point lead at halftime with 7-0 run to open the second stanza to put the game away.
MSU shot 45 percent from the field, while holding the Bulldogs to 34 percent. The Bobcats also forced Montana Western into 27 turnovers, while committing just eight miscues of their own.
“We met our goal of having fewer than ten turnovers,” Binford said. “I thought the guards did a nice job with their decision-making and I was very pleased with our defensive pressure in the first half, as well.”
Also contributing to the Bobcat attack was a pair of freshmen as Jackie Elliott and Kalli Durham notched 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Sophomore Ashley Albert paced MSU under the glass with a team-high nine rebounds.
Montana Western was led by Sammi Bignell with 20 points and eight rebounds.
Montana State will host the College of Idaho on Sunday at 2 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
