Bobcat Hoopsters Hold Blue/Gold Scrimmage

Three weeks into its preseason drills, the Montana State women’s basketball team will host its annual Blue/Gold scrimmage on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
Three weeks into its preseason drills the Montana State women's basketball team will host its annual Blue/Gold scrimmage on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
“The scrimmage will be a good gauge to see where we are at,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “I'd like to see us be more consistent in our transition defense and communication.”
Montana State returns three starters from its squad that went 17-14 overall and 11-5 in Big Sky action last winter. Returning are first-team All Big Sky selection Rachel Semansky, second-team pick Katie Bussey, and point-guard Ausha Cole.
In addition, the Bobcats return seven letterwinners and welcome six newcomers.
Earlier in the week, the Bobcats were slated to finish fourth in both the Preseason Big Sky Conference Coaches and media polls. The Bobcats received one first place vote in the coach's selection and two from the media. MSU finished third during the 2010-11 season.
“I think the polls show the parity in the Big Sky Conference,” Binford said. “Our focus in not on the polls, but making sure we are playing our best basketball at the end of the season.”
Montana State will open its 2011-12 campaign hosting the University of Mary in an exhibition game Oct. 29.
