MSU Passes CS-Fullerton For Second Place in Bobcat Invite

Montana State golfers shaved nine strokes off their day one total to pass Cal State Fullerton for second place at the Bobcat Invite at Riverside Country Club in Bozeman.
MSU finished with a team score of 613 and Cal State Fullerton followed with 617. MSU was led in scoring by sophomore Molly Dorans who fired a second round 72 and Kelly O'Brien who scored 75. Both golfers ended with a 151 to lead the team to a second place finish. MSU's Paige Crawford, who golfed as an individual, scored 154 for the event placing fourth among MSU golfers.
The University of Memphis won the event with a team score of 579 and took the top five places in the individual competition. Marissa Steen ended up the meet four-under-par to take first with a two-day score of 138. She was followed by teammate Julia Hodgson at 145. Two Memphis golfers tied for third at 146: freshman Ashley Kees and Sarah Mathews. Alex Alang of Memphis shot a 150 for fifth.
Of MSU's top five golfers, four improved their scores from the first round, including Dorans who dropped seven strokes and equaled her collegiate best.
“I couldn't be more proud of my team, coming out on their own course and having the second best round in Bobcat golf history,” head coach Leslie Spalding said. “Freshman Paige Crawford did a good job—she placed in the top five on the team in this tourney and she will be on our traveling team next week for the invite at Gonzaga."
