Montana State golfers will compete at the University of Colorado/Heather Farr Memorial Invitational Oct. 8-9.
The event will feature 11 teams including Colorado, Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Fresno State, MSU, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa, Portland State, Weber State, and Wyoming.
The format is 54 holes over two days with 36 being played the first day and 18 on the second. The tournament will take place at the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie located about 12 miles east of Boulder.
The tournament's namesake was the childhood friend and LPGA Tour co-member of Colorado head coach Anne Kelly. An outstanding junior, amateur, and professional golfer, Farr was well on her way to becoming a star on the Tour, but was diagnosed with a rare and serious form of cancer in her mid-20s. This tournament is being held as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Montana State's golfers at the event will be Kelly O'Brien, Melissa Hultstrand, Paige Crawford, Molly Dorans, and Leslie McGetrick. Elise Nelsen will be golfing as a non-scoring individual. Last year, MSU placed 19th of 20 teams and were led by Molly Dorans who placed 68th.
