The Montana State women's basketball team will hold its annual Blue-Gold scrimmage on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Shroyer Gym.
The Montana State women's basketball team will hold its annual Blue-Gold scrimmage against its scout team on Saturday at 10 a.m., in Shroyer Gym. The scrimmage is free and open to the public with an autograph session following the game.
“The Blue-Gold scrimmage will give us an opportunity to see where we are at game speed,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “It will give us a good look at a variety of different lineups as we prepare for our exhibition game against Montana Tech next week.”
The Bobcats return three starters and seven letterwinners from last year's squad that posted an 18-14 overall mark and made an appearance in the Big Sky Conference championship game.
Returning starters include Sarah (Strand) Balian, Katie Bussey and Rachel Semansky.
Balian, who was the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 13.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore Katie Bussey garnered all-conference honorable mention kudos for pouring in 13.5 points, while converting 78 three-pointers. Semansky earned a starting spot during preseason and finished averaging 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds, while shooting a team-best 48 percent from the field.
“I really like our mix of veterans and newcomers,” Binford said. “We have a lot of things that we need to accomplish before the start of the season, and this scrimmage is just another step towards meeting our goals.”
MSU will host Montana Tech in an exhibition game, Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. in Worthington Arena.
