Montana State Qualifies Three for Conference Meet

Montana State freshman pentathlete Sadie McMillan placed fourth in her first outing as a multi athlete Monday at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. McMillan scored 3179 points in the meet. The qualifying standard for the Big Sky Conference meet is 3100 points. Freshman teammate Kortnee Barrett placed sixth with 2831 points.
Also qualifying for conference events were freshman Jeff Mohl and junior Asa Staven in the high jump. Both Mohl and Staven are scheduled to finish their heptathlete competition tomorrow. Multi athletes may qualify for individual conference events if their performances exceed the conference qualifying standard in a multi meet.
"Both Asa and Jeff should qualify tomorrow in the multi events as well," MSU coach Tom Eitel said. "Asa is on track to qualify for the NCAA meet too."
Staven and Mohl are one-two in the current standings at the meet that will resume tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. The three remaining events in the men's heptathlon are pole vault, 55 meter hurdles and the 1000 meter run.
