Bobcat Trio Kicks off Competition at NCAA West First Round on Wednesday

Matt Furdyk, Harvey Cramb, and Easton Hatleberg compete in first of four days of competition for Bobcats in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --- A trio of Bobcat men took to John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark., on Wednesday as Matt Furdyk, Harvey Cramb, and Easton Hatleberg competed at the NCAA West First Round.
Furdyk, Cramb, and Hatleberg marked three of 17 Bobcats set to appear at the NCAA West Regional meet this week, with each posting strong marks to conclude their respective seasons. The trio joins a group of six men representing Montana State in Arkansas across the four-day meet.
"Matt Furdyk finished out his career today with another solid performance in the hammer," Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lyle Weese said. "He has had such an incredible career, accomplished so much, and finishes as the school record holder in the hammer."
Furdyk was the first Bobcat to compete in Fayetteville on Wednesday, posting a mark of 60.79 meters/199 feet, 5 inches to place 31st in the hammer throw. The mark came on his third and final attempt as he made his second career NCAA regional appearance.
Cramb marked his third career regional appearance with a 31st-place finish in the 1,500-meter run, crossing the finish line in 3:44.94 in the event's first round. Cramb's performance marked the Bobcats' lone running event of the day.
Hatleberg took 34th place in the shot put while making his NCAA regional debut. He recorded a mark of 17.44m/57-2.75 on his second attempt to wrap up the men's throws in Fayetteville.

Bob Hartley and Jordan Lasher will kick off Thursday's competition for the Bobcats at 1:40 p.m. MT as they take part in the men's pole vault, which was postponed from Wednesday to Thursday due to weather. The Bobcat women will also open competition on Thursday, with the schedule of events mirroring that of Wednesday's men's events. Libby Hansen and Tatum Richards will compete in the pole vault at 6 p.m., while Sydney Brewster is set to compete in the shot put at the same time. The Bobcats' first running event will begin at 6:25 p.m. as Caroline Hawkes competes in the first round of the 400m. The meet will be live streamed on ESPN+ starting at 6 p.m.
