Tournament set for Monday and Tuesday in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State women's golf team will compete in its second tournament in as many weeks, traveling to Litchfield Park, Ariz., for the Bell Bank Pay It Forward Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
The 54-hole tournament, hosted by the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas, will be held at the par-71, 6,373-yard Wigwam Golf Club Blue Course, with 36 holes set for Monday and the final 18 to be played on Tuesday. The Bobcats will tee off at 9:30 a.m. MDT on Monday and 9 a.m. MDT on Tuesday, with both days beginning in a shotgun start.
"Excited to be back at the Wigwam competing before the Big Sky Conference Championship," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "This is a new tournament for us, along with some new teams playing we haven't seen before. The weather will be hot, but we will be prepared to stay focused on our games and stay hydrated. It's time to be locked in – learn a lot this week from our games, what we need to be fine tuning, and get a good game plan for this golf course. It will be nice to continue seeing golf balls in the air, get some short-game prep work in, and go compete."
The Bobcats will join 13 other teams at the Wigwam to face off for the team title. Montana State is set to compete against Creighton, Florida Gulf Coast, Grand Canyon, Middle Tennessee State, Minnesota, Nebraska Omaha, North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Florida, St. Thomas, UC Irvine, Utah Tech, and Western Michigan.
Montana State is set for its fourth tournament of the spring, last competing at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on March 17-18. The Bobcats finished eighth out of 13 teams in a tough field in 'Aiea, Hawaii, carding rounds of 302-299-289 for a 54-hole score of 890. Ashleigh Wilson led the Bobcats individually, tying for 23rd with a total score of 6-over 219 after carding rounds of 72-75-72 on the par-71 Pearl at Kalauao course.
