Montana State (4-5) jumped out early, taking the opening set behind Heidemann’s five kills and Lindseth’s nine digs. The Bobcats outhit UC Irvine (4-5) .268 to .225 in the frame.
Despite 17 kills and eight digs from Karli Heidemann and Lauren Lindseth's 26 digs, the Montana State volleyball team came up short dropping a 21-25, 25-13, 25-19, 21-15 decision to UC Irvine on the final day of the ASICS Invitational hosted by Oregon State.
Montana State (4-5) jumped out early, taking the opening set behind Heidemann's five kills and Lindseth's nine digs. The Bobcats outhit UC Irvine (4-5) .268 to .225 in the frame.
The Anteaters quickly flipped the switch cruising to wins in the final three sets outhitting the Bobcats .304 to .059.
"The first set was some of the best volleyball we played all weekend," said MSU head coach Matt Houk. "However, in the final three sets we did nothing of what we were doing in the first set. We struggled and battled some injuries, but the silver-lining is that everyone played and gained some valuable experience. We'll regroup and get ready for our final non-conference tournament next weekend."
Montana State will host Nevada next Thursday and Santa Clara on Saturday evening as part of the EVEN Hotel Bobcat Classic.
