Bobcat receiver Taco Dowler was one of the day’s stars, posting his career best receiving day. The junior preseason All-America caught 12 passes for 107 yards. MSU quarterback Justin Lamson was 23-31 passing for 193 yards.
The Ducks rolled up 506 yards and 29 first downs to claim the win. In spite of being out-gained, the Bobcats finished 23-for-31 passing without a turnover, and gained 244 yards.
MSU head coach Brent Vigen lauded Oregon for taking advantage of his team's mistakes. "If you give them an inch they're going to take a mile," he said. "I think that happened far too many times, whether that be on offense, defense or special teams."

Oregon piled up 257 yards in the first half, to Montana State's 107, scoring on all six possessions. Dante Moore completed 13 of his 18 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Malik Benson caught five of those balls for 51 yards, while Dakorien Moore and Gary Bryant Jr. each caught two.
Lamson was also efficient, completing 10-of-16 passes for 79 yards. Taco Dowler caught a career-high eight passes before the intermission. Tight ends Rocky Lencioni and Rylan Schlepp each caught one. Dowler also carried once for 12 yards. The Cats found the end zone after a 75-yard drive when Adam Jones plunged in from two yards out.
The Bobcats got on the board with 1:03 to play in the second half. After driving 50 yards, Myles Sansted nailed a 42-yard field goal to make the score 31-3. Oregon answered with a one-minute long touchdown drive to stretch the halftime score to 38-3.
MSU opened the second half with another efficient drive. After moving the ball 51 yards, Sansted hit a 42-yard field goal.
Montana State's loss is the team's first in a season opener since 2021, when Brent Vigen's first team lost at Wyoming. The Ducks extended their nation-leading non-conference home winning streak to 35 games, is UO's 16th straight home win, and its 21st straight home opening win.
