Talented wing from Seattle area commits to the Bobcats ahead of the 2025-26 season after two years at the University of Washington
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State men's basketball added a skilled forward from the portal on Thursday with the signing of University of Washington transfer Christian King.
"We are very excited to add Christian King to our MSU basketball family," head coach Matt Logie said. "Christian is someone that we have followed as a player since high school and throughout his time at the University of Washington. Christian possesses great size on the wing to go along with a tremendous shooting and scoring ability. Furthermore, Christian is a competitor who can defend a variety of positions and takes the game very seriously."
King will be a redshirt sophomore for the Bobcats during the 2025-26 season.
King, a native of Kirkland, Washington, spent the last two years at the University of Washington, redshirting the 2023-2024 season before appearing in 20 games this past year for former MSU player and coach Danny Sprinkle.
This past season for the Huskies, King averaged 8.9 minutes per game over 20 appearances off the bench, averaging 2.5 points and 1.6 rebounds per outing.
In limited playing time, the forward shot 42.1% from the floor, 38.5% from beyond the arc, and 72.7% at the free throw line.
King played a career-high 26 minutes against Eastern Washington on Dec. 10, 2024, scoring nine points with four rebounds. He added an eight-point performance against Seattle U on Dec. 24 and a nine-point output against NJIT on Dec. 29.
The forward saw double-digit minutes in conference play against Michigan, Rutgers, and Wisconsin.
"Christian's playing experience at the Pac 12 and Big Ten levels will provide a tremendous foundation for him as he takes the next step in his basketball journey here at Montana State," Logie said.
King's father, Rich, was the No. 14 pick in the 1991 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics.
King attended Seattle Prep, where he was rated the No. 59 small forward in the class of 2023 and the No. 6 prospect in the state of Washington.
King joins guard Davian Brown (Biola University) as the first two announced members of the 2025-26 signing class for the Bobcats out of the transfer portal.
Incoming freshmen C.J. Purdie (Davidson, N.C.) and Howie Keene (The Woodlands, Texas) will be additional newcomers to Bozeman this summer.
