Cats Fall to NDSU Shooting Prowess

Issy Bunyan, a junior from Tonyrefail, Wales, led the Bobcats with a career-high 22 points, which included a six-of-nine effort from beyond the 3-point arc. Bunyan also added three rebounds and three steals.
North Dakota State scored 15-seconds into the game and never relinquished its lead behind strong shooting and a dominating rebounding performance, en route to a 90-65 win over Montana State on Wednesday as the Big Sky Conference/Summit League Challenge tipped-off in the Scheels Center.
NDSU (6-2) shot lights out in the opening half, hitting at a 60.7% clip, including 75% (6-8) from beyond the three-point line. Montana State (5-2) shot a respectable 48.3% from the field in the opening twenty minutes, but the Bison entered intermission with a 49-38 advantage.
The Bobcats cut the margin to nine points early in the third quarter before NDSU pushed the margin back to double digits and MSU would get no closer.
"This was the first game where I thought our defense wasn't up to our standards," said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. "We had 19 steals, but you can't let a good team like North Dakota State get the shots they had all night."
The Bison finished the game shooting 55.8% from the floor, while the Bobcats hit for 35.9%. NDSU also went 61.1% (11-18) from long distance. North Dakota State also held a sizeable 44-27 advantage under the boards.

Sophomores Taylee Chirrick and Addison Harris also reached double figures with 15 points, apiece. Chirrick finished with a team-best six rebounds, and added five assists and five steals.
Karrington Asp came off the bench to spark six Bison players in double digits with 18 points. She also added ten rebounds and five assists.
Montana State hosts North Dakota on Saturday at 6 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
