MSU Men's Tennis Team Fares Well at ITA Regionals

Bobcat duo wins two singles matches
BOZEMAN, Mont. (Oct. 21, 2025) – Oumar Diallo and David Ismanescu each won a pair of matches for Montana State in the 2025 ITA Fall Regional Championships at UNLV last weekend.
Against the top competition in the Rocky Mountains, MSU coach Mateus Ceolin said he was pleased with his team's performance. "It was a great tournament for our team," the Bobcats' second-year head coach said. "It was fun to see that we have gotten a lot better this semester. When I look back on this same tournament last year, we did so much better this time around and it is fun to see that our players are getting better and moving on the right direction."
Diallo, a sophomore who redshirted at MSU in 2024-25, split four matches at the regional tournament. He won matches against athletes from Idaho and Weber State, while dropping contests against Denver and BYU. Junior Andre Stewart won his opening match against UNLV, before dropping a match to Denver. Freshman Ismanescu took matches against Weber State and NAU.
"I'm really happy for Oumar getting through qualifiers and playing his best tennis of the semester so far," Ceolin said. I'm also delighted for Andre for putting a really good match together to beat a good player from UNLV."
Montana State's other three players each won one match. Camille Chantron, a sophomore, beat a player form UNLV. Sophomore Eddie Biss took a match from Boise State. Sophomore Yassin Elaroussy beat a player from Idaho.
Montana State's fall season hits another peak this weekend when the Cats host the Bobcat Invitational October 24-26. "This week we are back to the practice courts and getting ready for the Bobcat Invite," Ceolin said. "It will be fun to host a tournament on campus again after a long time. The guys are ready and excited to compete."
