
Bobcats Open Outdoor Season at Al Manuel Invitational

Track and field begins spring sprint in Missoula on Friday
BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana State track and field team opens its outdoor season at the Al Manuel Invitational hosted by the University of Montana on Friday at Dornblaser Field in Missoula.
Originally scheduled as a two-day meet, predicted weather conditions for Saturday moved all events to Friday. The Bobcats will send its throwing contingent along with a handful of jumpers. Also, participating along with MSU and UM will be Frontier Conference schools from the Treasure State.

Guiding the Bobcat men will be junior Matt Furdyk who sat out the indoor season. Furdyk last competed at the 2023 Big Sky Conference championships where he finished fifth in hammer with a toss of 176-7. MSU will also look to sophomore Elijah Jackman in the throws. The Tigard, Ore., product placed sixth indoors in shot put with a mark of 54-7.25.
Sydney Brewster and Angelica Street lead the Bobcat women's squad. Street, a junior from Columbia Falls, sat out last season, after finishing fourth in javelin at the 2022 Big Sky meet with a toss of 150-7. Brewster, a freshman from Sandy. Ore. placed tenth indoors in weight throw.
