Bean Named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week

Montana State freshman Angel Bean was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for her efforts as the Bobcats defeated South Dakota and Drake by identical 4-3 decisions last Friday and Saturday, respectively, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The Montreal native won three matches overall- two in singles and one in doubles. Bean went 2-0 In singles play the No. 4 spot. Against USD, she downed Anna Medvyedyeva 6-2, 7-5; and followed that with a 6-4, 7-6(9) win over Drake's Rebecca Ehn. Bean fought off two set points in the tiebreaker to snatch the victory.
Both wins clinched the matches for the Bobcats.

In doubles play against Drake, Bean combined with Jazmin Lerman at the No. 2 spot, where the tandem clinched the doubles point with a 7-6(7) win. The duo was down early 4-0 before rallying for the victory.
Montana State's 5-1 start is its best since the 1995 season.
