BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State track and field gets their season underway on Thursday, closing the fall semester with the annual Bobcat PReview meet inside Worthington Arena in Bozeman.
Field events get started with the men's weight throw and high jump at 2 p.m., with action on the track starting with the women's 60 meter hurdles at 3:45 p.m.
A full meet schedule can be viewed here, with heat sheets available here.
Admission to Thursday's meet in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse is free.
"The Bobcat PReview is a true highlight of the fall semester," head coach Lyle Weese said. "Our student-athletes have a chance to show the results of all their hard work and dedication put in throughout the summer and fall."
Shortly before the 4x400 meter relays wrap up the evening, Montana State will unveil the 2024 Big Sky Men's Outdoor Championship banner from the rafters of Worthington Arena at approximately 7:40 p.m.
Montana State's men are coming off their first championship since 2005 and just their second overall in their 60-year history of the league, a thrilling title that came on their home track in Bozeman this past May.
The Bobcat men finished runner-up at last year's Big Sky indoor championships before winning the conference's outdoor championship crown in an upset over No. 11 Northern Arizona, 186-185.
Montana State's women have finished runner-up at five consecutive conference championships dating back to the 2022 outdoor meet.
Between the men and the women, the 2024 indoor and outdoor seasons saw 74 new all-time top ten marks get added to the record books, along with 11 new school records.
"There are always a few student-athletes that have transformed their level of performance and reached entirely new levels," Weese said. "These breakthroughs are always high points of this fall semester meet. The distance team was competing in cross country this fall, but the throw, jump, and sprint student-athletes were all putting in work and we can't wait for them to showcase it on Thursday."
Other schools competing on Thursday include the University of Montana, Montana State University-Billings, Montana Tech, Carroll College, Rocky Mountain College, and the University of Providence (Great Falls).
Following Thursday, Montana State will take a break from competition before resuming on January 17 at the Spokane Sports Showcase.
Thursday's Bobcat PReview meet is the first of four home meets hosted by the Cats during the indoor season: Bobcat Challenge (Jan. 25), Bobcat Performance (Jan. 31), and the Big Sky Tuner (Feb. 20).
