MSU finishes its season playing five of seven at home.
NEXT UP: Montana State volleyball starts its November drive hosting a pair of Big Sky matches this week. The Bobcats face Weber State on Thursday, Oct. 31, and Idaho State, Saturday, Nov. 2. Both matches are slated for 7 p.m. in Shroyer Gym. MSU finishes its season playing five of seven at home.
QUICK SETS: After sweeping archrival Montana (3-0) on Friday night in Missoula, the Bobcats are 7-13 overall and 5-4 in Big Sky play. Weber State defeated Sacramento State (3-2) and Portland State (3-1) last weekend to improve to 9-11 and 6-3 in league action. Idaho State defeated Portland State (3-0) and Sacramento State (3-1), last weekend. The Bengals are 16-5 overall and 7-2 in Big Sky matches.
TWTWTW: Montana State used a strong block, scrappy defense, and an efficient offensive attack to dominate Montana 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 on Friday night in Missoula. The Bobcat win was its third straight over the Grizzlies, ensuring the Main Line Trophy's home in Bozeman for another month. Montana State outhit Montana .203 to .089, while holding advantages in aces and blocks. The Bobcats took a 15-10 lead at the media timeout in the opening set, before UM responded knotting the contest at 18-all. MSU answered with a 7-1 run closing out the frame on a Jourdain Kamps kill. Kamps had five kills in the set. A Kamps and Joelie Spelts block in the second set gave MSU an 18-12 cushion and the Cats rolled to the win following a Camryn Greenwald kill. The Bobcats held its momentum in the final stanza taking a 15-11 lead at the midway mark. UM fought back pulling even at 19-all, however MSU quickly responded going up 23-20 on a Kamps kill. UM made one final push with three straight points, but a block by Courtney Weatherby followed by a Madilyn Siebler kill gave MSU the sweep. Kamps finished with 11 kills, while hitting .370 and adding eight blocks. Greenwald and Siebler added seven kills apiece. Defensively, libero Lauren Lindseth registered 22 digs, while Weatherby added ten. Siebler and Jordan Radick notched four blocks.
BIG SKY CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Montana State junior libero Lauren Lindseth was named Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her play in MSU's sweep of Montana on Friday night in Missoula. The league honor is the fifth of her career. Lindseth, a product of Great Falls CMR, was a big reason the Bobcats held the Grizzlies to an .089 attack mark, en route to its third straight win over its archrival, 25-19, 25-16, 25-23, in Dahlberg Arena. She notched a match-high 22 digs, averaging 7.3 per set. Lindseth posted an impressive ten digs in the second frame. In addition, she also chipped in a match-high three aces and dished out four assists. Lindseth currently leads the Big Sky averaging 4.74 digs per set in conference play. Her current total of 1,316 career digs ranks fifth all-time at Montana State.
SCOUTING REPORT: Weber State is 9-11 overall and 6-3 in Big Sky Conference action. The Wildcats are led by Ashley Gneiting, a 6-1 junior outside hitter, who is averaging 2.93 kills and 2.33 digs per set. MSU defeated WSU 31-33, 25-20, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11 on Oct. 5 in Ogden, Utah. Weber State was led in the loss by Gneiting, Liana Woodley, and Saane Munyer with 17, 14 and 13 kills, respectively. The Bobcats have won four of its last five meetings with WSU. The lone Wildcat win came in last year's Big Sky Conference Tournament championship (3-2). Idaho State is 16-5 overall and 7-2 in Big Sky action. The Bengals play at Montana on Thursday night.

Last Friday, the Cats outblocked Montana 12-6. The nation's top blocking program to date is Louisville at 3.10 bps. Individually, Jourdain Kamps leads the Bobcats averaging 1.22 per set, followed by Jordan Radick 1.20 and Joelie Spelts .99. Kamps and Radick rank 74th and 85th in the nation in blocks per set, respectively. In Big Sky matches, MSU has three of the top four blockers in the league. Spelts is second at 1.37, followed by Kamps (3rd/1.34) and Radick (4th/1.29).
ANYONE, ANYTIME, ANYPLACE: According to the NCAA rankings, Montana State's 2024 schedule is the 68th toughest slate in the nation and tops in the Big Sky Conference this week. The Bobcats have faced three teams ranked in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division I Women's Volleyball Top 25 poll - #2 Nebraska, #13 Arizona State and (RV) Washington.
PACKING THE PLACE: Montana State is averaging 1,011 fans this season (five matches). On Oct. 12 against Idaho, the Bobcats saw a season-high 1,347 fans pack Shroyer Gym. MSU is currently ranked 74th in the nation for attendance, ahead of programs such as Clemson, Florida State, and Alabama. Last fall, MSU finished 65th in the nation averaging 1,115 fans per game. On Sept. 30, 2022, Montana State set a Big Sky and State of Montana record when 6,457 fans jammed Worthington Arena.
HORSESHOES & HAND GRENADES: Twelve of Montana State's 78 sets played have gone to extra points. The Bobcats are 7-5 in those matches. MSU's last extra point contest (25-27) came in the second set against Northern Arizona Oct. 19.

In addition, she is chipping in 1.22 blocks and .68 digs per contest. Kamps had her best match of the year at Weber State on Oct. 5 recording a career-high 26 kills, while hitting .382 and adding a career-best 10 blocks. For her efforts, she was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week for the second team in her career. Kamps also became the 18th member of MSU's 1,000-kill club. Her current total of 1,064 kills ranks 12th all-time. Kamps is currently averaging 3.09 kills and 1.34 blocks per set in Big Sky Conference action. The product of Ennis, Mont., has been in double-figure kills in nine matches, including two 20 kill matches (Weber State/Idaho State). Kamps, who has been part of the Bobcat program since redshirting in 2019, moved into third on MSU's all-time block assists chart with 438, while her 462 total blocks are fifth all-time. Kamps was a Second Team All-Big Sky pick in the spring of 2021 after averaging 1.49 kills and .97 blocks in the shortened 15-match season.
GOTTA DIG IT: Lauren Lindseth has totaled 347 digs in 78 sets. Last Friday night, the Great Falls native registered 22 digs in MSU's win over Montana- averaging 7.3 per set. She also had three aces against UM. Lindseth became the 11th member of MSU's 1,000-Dig Club against Denver on Sept. 5. Her current total of 1,316 career digs is fifth all-time. She has 17 matches in double-digit digs this season. Last fall, Lindseth ranked seventh in Big Sky play averaging 3.77 per game. On Aug. 31, 2023, she recorded a career-high 34 digs against St. Thomas (MN). For the season, Lindseth recorded 28 matches in double-digit digs. Lindseth's 494 digs last fall were the fifth best single season mark in MSU history, while her freshman total of 475 digs ranks sixth. As a sophomore, she was in double-digit digs in 22 matches, including a streak of 13 consecutive matches. Lindseth has earned All-Big Sky Tournament honors the last two seasons, and she is a five-time Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year honoree.
LINDSETH LEGACY: Lauren Lindseth is part of Bobcat history as one-half of the first mother/daughter duo to play at MSU. Lindseth's mother - Kelly Modrow (MOD-row) - played at MSU from 1992-1996. The native of Minnetonka, Minn., (Hopkins HS) played in 110 matches and 359 sets. In all, Modrow's recorded 889 kills, 733 digs, 128 blocks and 87 aces wearing the No. 2 jersey, as well.
A LENDING HAND: Senior Nellie Stevenson has played all 20 matches as MSU's setter. The 5-11 senior from San Leandro, Calif., dished out 16 assists as the Bobcats swept Montana on Friday night in Missoula. Her current 6.38 assists average ranks sixth in the Big Sky. Stevenson, who comes to MSU via Feather River Junior College, dished out 1,049 assists last fall, averaging 8.53 per set. That mark ranked fifth in Big Sky action.
CAMMER TIME: Montana State junior middle blocker Camryn Greenwald saw action in all three sets at Montana. The Woodbury, Minn., product recorded seven kills, a .273 attack mark and two blocks against the Grizzlies. At Weber State on Oct. 5, Greenwald had a career-best 16 kills. She had a career-high nine blocks against Middle Tennessee on Sept. 1. Last fall, she averaged 1.62 kills and .96 blocks, while hitting a team-high .268. Greenwald recorded five matches in double-figure kills.
JO KNOWS: Bozeman product and senior middle blocker Jordan Radick posted four block assists in MSU's win at Montana on Friday night. On the season, Radick averages 1.16 kills and 1.20 blocks per set, while hitting .289. Radick was the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week on October 7, after averaging 1.70 blocks per set in wins at Idaho State and Weber State.
JUST A BLUR: Madilyn Siebler has averaged 2.56 kills and 2.62 digs per set this season. The junior outside hitter from Omaha, Neb., had a season-high 16 kills against Eastern Washington on Oct. 10. Last Friday night, she recorded seven kills, nine digs and four block assists at Montana. Siebler has nine double-doubles on the season- tops on the team.
STORM WARNING: Courtney Weatherby has started the last six matches, producing 24 kills and 53 digs. At Montana, she had six kills and ten digs. A product of Kuna, Idaho, she had a season-best 13 kills at Idaho State on Oct. 3 in Pocatello.

Heidemann also had five digs at NAU.

LOOK FAMILIAR: Freshman Afton Thomsen may look familiar. She is the sister of former Bobcat standout Kira Thomsen. On the season, Afton has played in 13 sets and has recorded six total digs. Kira finished her tenure as MSU's all-time career leader in kills (1,688) and attacks (4,827). Kira is currently playing professionally in Germany.
YO TEYA: Freshman Teya Yeomans made her first appearance in the Blue and Gold against Idaho on Oct. 12. The native on Mancos, Colo., posted two kills and had one block assist. Her second kill against the Vandals was match point.
