Lauren Greeny and Jordan Briggs lead Bobcats after 18 holes in Provo, Utah
PROVO, Utah – The Montana State women's golf team opened up their 2023-2024 season at the Timpanogos Collegiate Classic on Sunday, finishing the first of three 18-hole rounds at the 54-hole tournament held at Timpanogos Golf Club in Provo, Utah.
The Bobcats sit tied for 15th out of 19 teams following Sunday's action, after posting a 298 (+10) in the first round. The entire tournament scoreboard can be viewed here.
"We have to play better," head coach Brittany Basye said. "This course is not difficult and you can tell by the low scores. Tomorrow we hope to get rid of the high numbers and make more birdie putts. They had some really good holes but when you take a few high numbers, your scorecard is rough-looking."
Fresno State leads the pack with a 279 (-9) after 18 holes, with six other teams at or below par. Cal-State Fullerton, UT Arlington, Weber State, and Idaho round out the top-five.
Lauren Greeny and Jordan Briggs led the way for Montana State on Sunday, with both turning in scores of 73 (+1) to head into Monday's round tied for 35th on the individual leaderboard.
Maddie Montoya shot a 74 (+2) for the Bobcats and sits tied for 49th.
The second 18-hole round of the tournament gets underway on Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. MT.
