Malea Egan, a 5-6 guard from Colstrip, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for Montana State, announced Bobcat head coach Tricia Binford on Tuesday afternoon.
Egan garnered Class B all-state honors after averaging almost 30 points per game at Colstrip High School. She posted a season-best 44 points against Baker and recorded 40 points against Lodge Grass this past winter. Egan recorded over 1,000 points with the Fillies.
"Malea is an explosive, attack-minded guard that is an outstanding playmaker and scorer," Binford said. "Defensively, she is a disrupter. Bobcat fans are going to love this young lady."
As a junior, Egan helped Colstrip to the Class B state title after notching 11 points and five steals in the championship game. As a sophomore, she helped the Fillies to district and conference championships and garnered sportsmanship award honors as a sophomore, junior, and senior. As a freshman, Egan played at Laguna Creek (CA) High School where she helped guide the squad to a conference title.
Recently, Egan was named to the roster for the Montana/Wyoming All-Star Basketball Series. She also received all-tournament kudos at the Treasure State Classic and was an all-star at the Hi-Line Invitational Tournament where she led Class B to the championship. For her efforts at the HIT, she was named Miss Hustle.
An outstanding athlete, Egan also lettered in volleyball, cross country and track and field.
She is the daughter of Marny Egan.
