Junior averaged 20.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game on the way to earning first career Big Sky weekly accolade
FARMINGTON, Utah – After notching consecutive 20-point games for the first time in his career, junior guard Tyler Patterson was named Big Sky Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Across a pair of games against UC Riverside and Long Beach State, the native of Snoqualmie, Wash., averaged 20.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 66.7% from the floor and 62.5% from three-point range.
The Player of the Week nod is the first career honor for Patterson, who has started 88 games in a Bobcat uniform and will be playing in his 100th career game on Thursday against Rocky Mountain College.
Patterson erupted in the second half of Wednesday's tight win over UC Riverside, going 4-for-4 from deep and dropping 18 second-half points to lead the Bobcats to a 69-68 win over the Highlanders at Worthington Arena. For the game, the 6-foot-8 junior was 7-of-9 from the floor and 4-of-5 from three.
He followed up that performance with another 20-point outing on Sunday against Long Beach State, hitting six three-pointers on a career-high 11 attempts while adding seven rebounds and two assists. The 20-point games were tied for the second-highest scoring outputs of Patterson's career, just two points shy of the 22 he scored against Incarnate Word on Nov. 27, 2021.
In both games this week, Patterson did not come off the floor, playing the full 40 minutes. The junior currently leads the Big Sky in three-point percentage (41.7%), and tied for fourth in made three-point field goals (15).
Montana State returns to action this Thursday, Nov. 30, at Worthington Arena against Rocky Mountain College. Tickets are available here.
