Regular season finale in Bozeman on March 4 will air on ESPNU, marking seventh time in three seasons that back-to-back Big Sky champions will appear on national television
BOZEMAN, Montana – Fresh off back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament, the Montana State men's basketball team will enjoy more national attention this coming spring, the Big Sky Conference announced on Monday.
The Bobcats' regular season finale against Weber State at Worthington Arena on March 4, 2024, will be televised on ESPNU.
The game will tip at 7:00 p.m. MT live from Bozeman.
With Monday's announcement, Montana State men's basketball will have appeared on national television a minimum of seven times in three seasons, far more than any other Big Sky program.
This marks the third-consecutive season that an ESPN network has aired a Big Sky game. During the 2021-22 season ESPNU aired the men's basketball edition of the 'Brawl of the Wild' between Montana and Montana State in Missoula, and then highlighted Weber State's road trip to Northern Colorado during the 2022-23 campaign.
Additionally, last year's Big Sky Men's Basketball Championship semifinal games aired on ESPN2 (Montana State vs. Weber State) and ESPNU (Montana vs. Northern Arizona), with the title game between the Bobcats and Lumberjacks also being played on ESPN2.
Montana State's NCAA Tournament first round game in 2022 against No. 3-seed Texas Tech aired on TNT, and the Bobcats' 2023 NCAA Tournament first round game against No. 3-seed Kansas State was televised on CBS.
Montana State returns six players from last year's team that went 25-10 and won their second consecutive Big Sky Tournament championship on the way to making their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Bobcats also welcome seven transfers and three freshmen to Bozeman.
First-year head coach Matt Logie takes the reigns of the program after building a powerhouse at Point Loma, where he rolled up an 82-23 record over four seasons. Logie's 276-58 career mark in 12 seasons is good for an .826 winning percentage, third-best among active coaches at four-year schools and the third-highest winning percentage in the history of all NCAA men's college basketball coaches.
Montana State has played in three straight Big Sky Tournament championship games, gone 37-7 against Big Sky opponents over the last two seasons, won at least 25 games in two straight seasons for the first time since 1927-1929, and are coming off consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in school history.
