
Bobcat Cross Country Heads East to Virginia for Pre-Nationals

Final regular season meet will pit MSU against multiple nationally ranked teams
BOZEMAN, Montana – The Montana State cross country teams head east this weekend to wrap up the regular season with the highly-anticipated XC23 Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday, hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The final meet before the Big Sky Championships on October 27 in Missoula will be a massive opportunity for the Bobcats to score points towards NCAA Championship qualification, with a decorated field set to partake in one of the signature events on the collegiate cross country calendar.
The MSU men will get things started in the Blue 8K race at 9:40 a.m. ET/7:40 a.m. MT, with the women toeing the line in the Blue 6K race at 10:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. MT.
The races will be held at Panorama Farms, the site of this year's NCAA Cross Country Championships on November 18.

The Bobcat men, who received eight votes in the latest USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll, will face off against a field that features No. 10 Virginia, No. 17 Tennessee, No. 21 Arkansas, No. 28 Cal Poly, and No. 29 Oregon.
On the women's side, the Bobcats will compete against five ranked teams, including three more that received votes in the same Oct. 3 National Coaches' Poll in No. 6 BYU, No. 7 Virginia, No. 17 Oregon, No. 19 Arkansas, No. 24 Utah Valley, Michigan (rv), Wake Forest (rv), and Penn (rv).
MSU junior and Kalispell native Ben Perrin received Big Sky Men's XC Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in his career after his last race, placing 11th at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite in South Bend, Indiana, two weeks ago.
Fellow junior Owen Smith, a Billings product, was right behind his running mate and placed 15th in the competitive race that showcased some of the top cross country athletes in the country.
For the women, graduate student Kyla Christopher-Moody placed 21st and junior Mya Dube crossed the line in 38th, helping Montana State finish tenth as a squad.
Montana State's men checked in at No. 9 in the most recent USTFCCCA Mountain Region poll, with the Montana State women coming in at No. 10.
