Bobcat Men's Basketball Team Starts Hot on European Tour

Cats capture two wins in England, wrap things up with a game in France on Wednesday
Montana State men's basketball coach Danny Sprinkle likes his team's results through two games of the Bobcats' week-long European tour. The Cats topped the Barking Academy Lions 88-72 on Sunday, and Hoopsfix Elite 94-49 on Monday.
But more importantly, he loves how his team is performing.
"The guys have been playing well and competing," Sprinkle said of his defending Big Sky Conference Champions. "The main thing my staff and I are looking for is guys defending, not turning the ball over, and taking good shots. I think in the first two games we have done a great job of sharing the basketball and everyone is scoring as a result of good ball movement. Guys are giving effort on the defensive end, which is good to see in the summer."
Through two games MSU has assisted on 52 of the team's 67 made baskets while maintaining a 52-to-28 assist-to-turnover ratio. Montana State has outrebounded its two foes 99-to-90 while holding its opponents to 30% shooting from the floor.
Returning Big Sky MVP Jubrile Belo and sharpshooter Tyler Patterson return as starters to lead the Bobcats. Primary contributors RaeQuan Battle, Nick Gazelas, Sam Lecholat and Great Osobor also return. Belo, Osabor and transfer Caleb Fuller all played the first two games of the trip in their native England.
Belo scored 13 points with 12 rebounds against Barking, his former team. Battle also scored 13 points, while Osobor also snared a dozen boards. Freshman Jed Miller poured in 16 points with eight rebounds to lead the Bobcats against Hoopsfix. Returner Patrick McMahon grabbed seven boards.
The trip offers Sprinkle and his staff the opportunity to coach and evaluate a host of newcomers to the program. Guard Darius Brown II has seven assists and seven steals in the two games, while Robert Ford III has six assists, a block, and a steal.
"I really like how fast our point guards are playing and advancing the basketball," Sprinkle said.
The team finishes its trip with a game on Wednesday night in Nice, France. Sprinkle said that in addition to offering several Bobcats the opportunity to play in their native country in front of friends and family, the cultural component has provided a tremendous experience.
"It's been an unbelievable educational experience for our players," he said. "Seeing and experiencing two completely different cultures and countries will be something they never forget. Our entire program would like to thank our 6th Man Club for making this possible."
