The Montana State women's golf travels to Arizona for the final tournament of the spring season with tournament play on Monday when the Bobcats participate in the 2022 Big Sky Championship. The 54-hole, three-day event is set to tee off at Talking Stick Resort Golf Course in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The tournament will feature all Big Sky teams. MSU will be up against Eastern Washington University, University of Idaho, Idaho State University, University of Montana, Portland State University, Sacramento State University, Weber State University, Southern Utah University, Northern Arizona University, University of Northern Colorado.
"Excited for the tournament to be played at Talking Stick as this is a new golf course for us. We have not had a tournament on this course yet. The conference tournament is nice because it is 18-18-18, so more in tune to how golf is played, not the 36-hole grind that we do all season," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "We have three players who have not been to a conference tournament, so each will see the different pressure that comes with a Big Sky Conference Tournament."
The women representing Montana State in this meet will be Kameryn Basye, Jordan Briggs, Cora Rosanova, Hannah Rosanova, and Lucita Prieto Romano.
The Bobcats are coming off the Bobcat Desert Classic, which Montana State hosted in Goodyear, Arizona. Freshman Cora Rosanova scored highest as she tied for 23rd out of 58 by shooting 16-over-par 232. Jordan Briggs (235) finished close behind as she shot a 76 in the final round and tied for 27th. Kameryn Basye (240) placed tied for 37th, Hannah Rosanova (243) tied for 42nd, Lucia Prieto Romano (250) finished in 53rd, and Sophia Rodriguez Todd (258) rounded out in 55th.
"We need to put together four if not five good rounds. It is go time, and this is what we have worked all fall and spring for, this tournament. It's time to play good, quality, smart golf. Brittany Basye said, "The course is set up well, and if we are hitting our spots and dropping some putts, we should be good. It will be important to start well and finish the first round with the best team score of our season. We are going to commit to every shot, and hopefully, each player will bring their best."
The Big Sky Championship begins at 7:00 a.m. The final day of action is expected to start at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Results for the invitational will be available on Golfstat.com with links found on the team's schedule page on msubobcats.com.
