Montana State, Danny Sprinkle Agree to Four-Year Deal

After one of the most historical seasons for the Montana State men’s basketball program, head coach Danny Sprinkle has signed a new four-year contract to remain at the helm of the Bobcats
BOZEMAN, Mont. – After one of the most historical seasons for the Montana State men's basketball program, head coach Danny Sprinkle has signed a new four-year contract to remain at the helm of the Bobcats.
Sprinkle joined Brick Breeden as the only Bobcats in history to lead MSU men's basketball to conference championships as a player and head coach, as the 2022 Bobcats won the Big Sky regular season and conference tournament titles. Montana State's 27 wins this season are fourth-most in school history, trailing only the Golden Bobcat-era teams, and Sprinkle's 56 wins trail only Schubert Dyche's 66 wins from 1928-31 among the program's coaches in their first three seasons.
"Coach Sprinkle has proven to be the perfect coach to lead the Bobcat men's basketball program and his accomplishments speak for themselves," said Montana State Director of Athletics Leon Costello. "I am proud of the culture of academic and athletic success he has created in a short period of time with quality student-athletes and assistant coaches. He has set a new standard for the men's basketball program and I am excited for the next four years with him as our leader."
Sprinkle's first three seasons guiding the Bobcats each featured overall winning records. He stands at 56-33 overall with his .629 winning percentage being the second best for a Bobcat coach with over 40 victories, trailing only Ott Romney's .829 mark he accumulated over six seasons in the 1920s.
"The school with president Waded Cruzado and Leon have been great through this whole process," Sprinkle said. "I'm looking forward to continuing to build on what we've put together in three years here. The energy around our program with our fan base and community is at an all-time high.
"I really like the guys that we have coming back. They've learned from some great seniors that have built the foundation. Now it's up to them to continue building on it. I'm really excited to be here in Bozeman with the staff and committed to continuing our success."
Sprinkle's new contract runs through the 2025-26 season.
Montana State wrapped up a 27-8 overall record in 2021-22 with a loss to No. 3 Texas Tech in the West Region First Round of the NCAA Tournament on March 18. MSU's trip to the NCAA Tournament was just its fourth ever appearance and first in 26 years.
