BOBCATS OF THE WEEK: Senior outside hitter Kira Thomsen was MSU's Offensive Player of the Week. Thomsen averaged 4.00 kills and 2.63 digs per set as the Bobcats split with Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. Against UNC, the parker, Colo., product posted 20 kills and 13 digs, and followed that with 12 kills, a .357 attack mark, eight digs and two aces as MSU swept the Lumberjacks on Saturday night. Sophomore middle blocker Jordan Radick was MSU's Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 1.75 blocks per set last week. The Bozeman High grad recorded 14 blocks on the weekend, including a match-high ten against Northern Colorado.
BOBCAT BITES: In its two matches last weekend, the Bobcats out-hit its opponents (.268 to .224), averaged more kills (13.25 to .11.50), averaged more service aces (1.50 to 1.25), averaged more digs (15.13 to 14.63) and out-blocked its opponents (2.50 to 2.00)...Kira Thomsen is 48 kills away from becoming the 17th member of MSU's prestigious 1,000-Kill Club...Montana State set a school, state of Montana, and Big Sky Conference volleyball attendance record when 6,457 fans jammed into Worthington Arena on Sept. 30 against Montana.

Idaho State is 10-10 overall and 2-5 in Big Sky Conference after dropping a pair of league matches to Portland State (3-0) and Sacramento State (3-1), last weekend in Pocatello. Against Sacramento State, ISU was led by Emrie Satuala with 13 kills, a .429 attack mark and four blocks. On the season, the Bengals have been led by Sadie Bluth who averages 3.25 kills per set. Bluth has been out of the ISU line-up since suffering an injury against Weber State. Weber State is 11-7 overall and 5-2 in Big Sky play after defeating Sacramento State (3-0) and losing to Portland State (3-0). WSU is paced by Dani Richins at 3.00 kps.

The Bobcats starting rotation includes four players from the Treasure State. In all, MSU has five athletes from its home turf on the roster. Starters include setter Audrey Hofer (Helena/Capital), middle blocker Jordan Radick (Bozeman), outside hitter Jordan Klein (Ennis) and libero Lauren Lindseth (Great Falls/CMR). The fifth is defensive specialist Shayla Webber (Joliet), who has seen action in in 15 of MSU's 19 matches.

Individually, Jordan Radick leads the conference averaging 1.35 blocks per set, while Jourdain Klein ranks eighth at 1.04 blocks per outing. In the 12 team statistical categories after the opening week of Big Sky action, the Cats rank among the top five in the league in eight categories, including #3 in assists (11.65) and blocks (2.46); #4 in digs (15.77), opponent service aces (1.35), kills (12.35) and opponent kills (11.88); #5 in opponent hitting (.193) and assists (11.23).

The Parker, Colorado product recorded 11 kills and a team-high 16 digs against Montana. Last weekend, Thomsen tallied 32 kills and 21 digs against Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. She posted a weekend-best 20 kills in MSU 3-2 loss to UNC. Last season, the Second Team All-Big Sky Conference pick recorded a career-high 26 kills against Northern Arizona at the league tournament. Junior Emma Pence continues her assault on the Bobcat blocks records. This season, the product of Carson City, Nevada, has totaled 63 blocks, averaging 0.97 per set. Last fall, Pence was one of the top blockers in the nation averaging 1.34 blocks per set, which led the Big Sky and ranked 14th in the nation. Pence's 151 total blocks was tops in the league and seventh in the country. This season, she had recorded six total blocks on three occasions, the last coming against Eastern Washington on Sept. 22.

THE MENACE FROM ENNIS:
Jourdain Klein, a 6-1 outside hitter from Ennis, Mont., is averaging 1.92 kills and 0.90 blocks per set with a .190 attack mark in Big Sky Conference action. A month ago, Klein averaged 3.29 kills and 1.29 blocks against Eastern Washington and Northern Colorado. Against the Eagles, Klein recorded 10 kills, a .308 attack mark and four blocks. Klein followed that performance with 13 kills, a .500 (13-2-22) attack mark and five blocks as the Bobcat defeated UNC in Greeley. Klein had 15 kills and seven blocks in two matches last weekend against Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. This fall, she has recorded seven matches with double-digit kills, and nine matches with four or more blocks.
JORDAN IN THE MIDDLE:
Sophomore Jordan Radick tallied a career-high 15 kills against Montana on Sept. 30, while hitting a team-best .560 (15-1-25) from the field. In addition, she added five blocks and three digs against the Grizzlies. Last week, she pounded out 20 kills and added 14 blocks against Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. The Bozeman High product opened league play a month ago, posting 13 kills (1.86 kps) and eleven blocks (1.57), while hitting .300 against Eastern Washington and Northern Colorado. Last weekend, she hit .667 (8-0-12) against NAU, and added a season-high 10 blocks vs. UNC. She has been in double-figure kills on five occasions and has notched eight matches with four or more blocks. Radick was the 2021 Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year and a Second Team All-Big Sky pick.
THE DISH:
Sophomore setter Audrey Hofer dished out 79 assists, averaging 9.88 per set, while also chipping in 3.38 digs against Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona, last week. Hofer is fourth in the Big Sky averaging 9.92 apg. She ranks sixth in overall at 9.07 apg, which is good for 125th in the country. She has registered four double-doubles this fall and recorded a career-high six kills vs. Bryant U.

Sophomore Courtney Weatherby has done an outstanding job on the outside for the Bobcats this fall. The native of Kuna, Idaho has played in 16 matches and 63 sets, averaging 2.14 kills and 2.40 digs per set. Weatherby recorded a career-high 20 kills against St. Thomas (MN) at the Bobcat Classic en route to being named to the all-tournament team. In all, she has been in double-digit kills on eight occasions, and double-figure digs nine times. She leads the Bobcats with seven double-doubles. Weatherby tallied a season-high 22 saves as the Bobcats defeated Fordham on Sept. 9. Weatherby has also done a fantastic job from the service line, leading the Bobcats with 18 aces. She posted three aces against Grand Canyon and Fordham. Against Northern Colorado, Weatherby registered a career-high three blocks, with one solo, and two block assists against the Bears. On Sept. 30, the native of Kuna, Idaho recorded 14 digs against Montana.
LINDSETH FAMILY LEGACY:
Montana State freshman libero Lauren Lindseth will be a part of Bobcat history as part of the first mother/daughter duo to play volleyball at MSU. Lindseth's mother - Kelly Modrow - played for the Blue and Gold from 1992-1996. The native of Minnetonka, Minnesota (Hopkins HS) played in 110 matches and 359 sets. In all, her career totals include: 889 kills, 733 digs, 128 blocks and 87 service aces wearing the No. 2 jersey. Like her mother, Lauren also dons the No. 2 uniform. Lindseth has played in all 19 matches and 77 sets this season as MSU's starting libero. On the season, she's totaled 280 digs, averaging 3.64 per contest. In Big Sky play, she is averaging 4.38 digs per set. Lindseth had been in double-digit saves on 12 occasions, including a season and career-high 32 digs as the Bobcat upset Boise State 3-2 in Shroyer Gym on Sept. 15. Additionally, Lindseth is tied for first on the squad with 20 service aces, including a season-high two aces on six occasions. She's also dished out 51 assists.
