MSU Trio Paces Bobcat Ski Squad at RMISA Invitational at Utah

Tegan Wold, Kristiane Bekkestad and Nellie Talbot all recorded top 10 finishes in giant slalom for the Montana State ski squad at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Invitational at Utah on Thursday afternoon at Park City Resort.

The RMISA ran two giant slalom races on the women's side as part of its COVID-19 protocol.
Bekkestad, a freshman from Aal, Norway guided the Bobcats in the opening event placing seventh with a two-run time of 1:58.28. Bekkestad's 57.81 opening run was the fifth fastest of the heat.
Also scoring points for MSU were Nellie Talbot, 12th, 1:59.04, and Tegan Wold, 20th, 2:00.82. Brynne Hitchcock finished 22nd in 2:02.35, while Hanna Nyquist placed 28th in 2:05.47.
Colorado's Cassidy Gray won the first slalom event in 1:55.55.
The Bobcat trio of Wold, Talbot and Bekkestad scored all of Montana State's points in the second slalom event as well, combining for 71 points, after notching 59 points in the first race.
Wold placed sixth in 2:03.38 for her second top 10 showing in giant slalom this winter. Talbot finished eighth with a two-run total of 2:03.84, while Bekkestad was 18th in 2:07.17.
Hitchcock and Nyquist did not finish their first run of the second event.
Westminster's Julia Toivianinen won the second giant slalom in 1:59.82.
With only the men's giant slalom remaining, Utah is atop the team standings with 527 points, followed by Alaska Anchorage 441, MSU 392, Colorado 382, Denver 297, Alaska Fairbanks 218, Westminster 211, and Colorado Mountain 54.
