Montana State opened the week with a 69-60 victory over Carroll College on Tuesday afternoon in Worthington Arena. MSU fell 72-47 at Gonzaga on Thursday night in Spokane.
BOBCAT BITES: Lindsey Hein had an impressive debut in the Blue and gold posting 16 points and seven rebounds as the Bobcats defeated Carroll College on Tuesday afternoon...Katelynn Limardo matched Lindsey Hein with 16 points and seven boards against the Saints on Tuesday...also in double-digits against Carroll College was Darian White 11 points...White also added a team-high three steals...Lexi Deden came off the bench to pull down seven boards against Carroll College....White was the only Bobcat to hit double-figure scoring against Gonzaga, connecting on four-of-14 from the field and four-of-four from the line, finishing with 15 points...White also hauled down a team-high eight rebounds against the Zags...Montana State finished the final quarter at Gonzaga in fine fashion, shooting 53.8% (7-13) from the field and 50% (3-6) from beyond the arc...Last season, the three-pointer was a key cog in MSU's offensive machine. So far this season, the Bobcats are averaging 5.0 triples per contest...If you add in the extra year players are getting due to COVID-19, the Bobcats started four freshmen and a sophomore against Gonzaga on Thursday night- one of the youngest line-ups in the country...In two games, MSU has used seven players in the starting rotation...MSU hasn't faced UNLV since March 20, 1988 (WNIT).
ABOUT UNLV: UNLV is 1-0 in the early going after defeating Oral Roberts 85-81 in Tulsa, Okla., on Tuesday. Junior guard Essence Booker scored 21 points to lead four Rebels in double-figures. Also hitting double-digits were Desi-Rae Young, 18, Khayla Rooks 14, and Justice Ethrigde 12. Young, a 6-1 center, pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds, while Rooks, a 6-1 forward, dished out six assists. Aside from MSU, UNLV is also slated to play Big Sky schools Northern Arizona in Flagstaff on Nov. 17, before hosting Southern Utah on Nov. 20 in Cox Pavilion.
